Looking for a Specific Application!

Hi everyone, i know this is my first post here but i'll try not to be one of the one-post-then-leave kinda guys, i promise!

But if you could help me that would be great!

Basically, my ipod touch broke recently and i couldn't afford to get it fixed. There was only one app that i used heavily on it.

I managed to acquire a Samsung Galaxy S2 yesterday and was excited to see if i could find that app or a close alternative - i have not :(

Basically, the ios app is called Momento, it's a dairy/journal app that lets you browse by all sorts of tags, categories and moments. It really is a fantastic app, probably the best i have ever used on any device. It was so streamlined, easy to use and simple.

However, i can't find a suitable replacement on the google play store, and i don't know where to look for third-party applications. I'm hoping somebody knows of a similar but difficult to find/ obscure android equivalent.

The closest i have found is one called Diaro and it seems to be [very!] heavily influenced by the Momento app but doesn't have the same tagging and categorising capabilities. If you look here, you can see that Momento allows you to tag by people, locations (i must stress multiple locations is important!), events and other tags. You can then browse by each category (people, locations etc) and see the entries made for tags in the respective categories.

I'm really hoping somebody knows an application that would provide the closest alternative to what i'm looking for because i really did rely on the other one a lot!

Thanks for any responses! I do appreciate them all! :)

Try I Journal it let's you tag locations and talks about moods etc. There are a lot in the Google Play store, I think you should search the word "journal" in the Google Play store and read the descriptions and decide which one suits you the best.

Hey Sky, thanks for replying!
I did check the I journal out, while it wasn't really what i was after i think i may hold onto it as it is quite interesting!
I suppose if i explain why i need this meticulous categorizing, it's because i used the application to document my dreams, and all these categories and tags are brilliant for spotting themes and regular occurrences, re-occurring characters and locations, whether the dream was lucid or non lucid etc.
as you can see, it's a bit "odd" so i was hesitant of saying why lol
ill have a look around some more, if i see a great one i'll be sure to post it here for others to see!

Have you taken a look at the app Evernote? It's cross-platform with all mobile devices/ operating systems and also web-based. It does most of, if not all, of what you described above. It's also very well-known by many users.

i think when you change platform, you have to expect to make some compromises. some apps are multi-platform n thats cool but most arent so youll probably have to change your system of doin things to match whats available.
P.s, i explore my dreams too. Im an avid lucid-dreamer. I dont document or analyse them though, i just enjoy them :)

I guess you're right :(

I think i'll start using evernote then, after all it is slightly quicker and easier than using a pen and pad i guess! Thanks for the suggestion!

Also Funkylogik thats cool! You should try writing them down for a few days, i half-guarantee you can double or triple your recall by the end of the week!

p.s. i was given an old ipod from a sibling earlier and tried to download the app from the apple appstore but it's been firmware locked now lol and wont work on anything but the latest devices! do they have any reason of doing this other than profit and forcing you to buy yearly updates? I must point out that i originally used this app on a 1g!

Thanks, yeah ive heard that it helps with recall. I always remember a dream when i wake up and i force myself to think it through so it sticks in my memory and i can go back to sleep and continue same dream if i dont leave it too long but im guessing theres been dreams before that each night that get forgotten :)

P.s, the firmware lock thing, unless its a visualy or computationaly advanced app then i see no reason to make it firmware dependant other than like you say, apple making it that way to encourage people to upgrade. I dont know enough about iOs to be sure though.. maybe it would involve more work for the dev to support old versions :)
