Looking for a Widget

Anyone know of a text messege alert widget that I can put on my home screen. What im looking for is a simple small icon that will alert me if I have a new text. Im using launcher pro and widget locker and I like to hide the top bar, but I want a way to see if I have a new text. I just want a simple icon that I can place on my lock screen and will have a number or something to appear when I have a new text, similar to the text icon for the launcher pro dock.

Sorry if that doesnt make sense.
 
Have you tried Handcent? It is a free messaging app in the market, and I believe it has a widget like you describe. It is also a very good and customizable app.

From your home screen using Launcher Pro hit the menu button>dock settings>unread sms count. Just check the box. I use all of the options to check it for calls, sms and gmail and it works great.



*edit......clearly I can't read....lol
 
with go sms you have options for the color of the led notification, when you have a new sms it will blink in that particular color. i see no need to use a widget
