looking for an application

is there an application that will turn the hero off and on when programed
i am new to the hero but my bb had that and i used it a lot

interesting idea. I haven't heard of one, but it's probably out there. I know there's one that will use your GPS and you can set it to turn airplane mode on in certain areas, or something along those lines

try timerrific.....don't know that it shuts if off completely...but you can put it in airplane mode which is equivalent in my book....

Do you mean off as in no power used or do you mean ringers off, or radio off? If the BB was off to the level of no power used, it wouldn't know it's time to turn back on. We need a little more info on what "off" is to you.

I had a BB and used this too. You can set a time every day that your BB would completely power down. You can also set a time every day that your BB would auto power on.

Very helpful if you want to shut it off during the night, yet have it come back on in the morning.

And yes, off = complete power down.

the bb was off at 11 pm and back on at 6 am
i think it is better for the battery and i do not have to listen to the phone beeping or ringing all night long
i just liked that feature on the bb and i cant find an application for the hero

I think the best you are going to get is timerrific or locale. I have not run into an app that would do this for android. Those apps will turn it off so you don't hear it ring but it is still powered on. I am sure you plug it in at night like the rest of us, so the battery is good to go in the morning.

I never turn my phone off so I have no need for it - unless I need to reboot, but it comes down to personal preference so you could ask the developers of those app if they can include this feature.

Check this older thread for more info on BB hibernation vs Android power off. It's (BB) similar to the old Palm's power off, not off unless the battery is pulled.

I found an application and i kept this secret with me sorry. Hold the power button and then press shut down and then when you wake up push the power button again to boot it back up. I know i wish this thing had a thank you button cus i know i would get flooded with them. ummm im weird sorry

Lol, but i dont have any thumbs so pressing the power button is a real pain. I kid...
