Hi,
Just see the sticky on main thread section.
Have you flashed ClockworkMod ? if yes then copy 'root.zip' to your SD Card and goto Hboot menu select 'Recovery', on the menu, choose 'install zip from SD card' godown, select 'Rom.zip' file. That's all.

Now your phone will be rooted.

this is the part where I can't really confused

4a install clockwordmod recovery
1. Download the official 5.0.2.8 image at ClockworkMod’s download page. Make sure you choose the right one for your device whether Marvel or MarvelC (listed as "Wildfire S" and "Wildfire S CDMA" respectively) and save it somewhere you can find it later. If you downloaded the zip version, extract the img file from the zip you just downloaded.

2. Boot the phone into HBOOT. (You are a pro at this by now, right? ) After it scans for PG7610.zip, select FASTBOOT and press the power button then connect the USB cable. The word FASTBOOT will change into FASTBOOT USB. If not, then either your USB drivers for the Wildfire S or Android SDK Tools is not installed properly.

3. Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you extracted the recovery image in step 1.

4. Type the following command: fastboot flash recovery [image name.img]. For example:
c:\android\>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel.img

If you have downloaded the MarvelC image, the image name will be recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvelc.img.

I have no idea which file to download in the clockwordmod download page I know to choose htc wildfire s CDMA but, after that there's lots to choose from. I'm also not sure where to find the img file I did download some of the files and inside the folder I only found boot img file? also I have no idea how to find the file and navigate to it via command prompt do I rename the folder? I tried last night but in command prompt I just got can't find program or some type of error message like that.

thank you for all the help ....I've rooted this type of phone before youd think I could do it again no problem

Download the one that has the same carrier and/or country that you are in. And if there are multiple ones, download the latest version :)

thank you all for the answers I finally got it rooted phones don't like me when I thought I had it. it didn't work I couldn't get command promt to go through I even downloaded a one click root tool which didn't work and then I came back to it later and tried to do the command prompts and it went through no problem also, good thing I backed up the rom because, I deleted some wrong apps. has anyone come with a list of things you can delete via link2sd? also a custom rom is a phones software with none of the junk right? I'd like to find one with no htc sense garbage and the less apps the better. any recomendations?

I recommend Cyanogen. There are also quite a few good sense-less roms over at the xda forums which are pretty good. They usually have really min. apps, the ones which are there are usually the ones most people use.
As for the uninstalling, I would say only uninstal the apps that you don't use. Don't mess with the system files or you might have a problem.
I recommend before uninstalling anything to do a full backup with Titanium backup. So that if you ever remove something you were not supposed to, you can restore it.
And also make sure you do a nandroid backup with recovery.

hi , i didnt want to make a new thread as im in the same boat as the original first post hehe. the bootloader in unlocked but no links are working for any root utility and clockworkmod. any new links would be great. thank you :)
