Looking for an on-screen mouse FOR THE TABLET (not controlling a PC)

Before I begin please, for the love of God, do not ask why I need this kind of function. I just do.

I'm looking for an app that would let me control a mouse cursor on my tablet with my finger. I do not want to use a mouse. Please do not suggest that I use a mouse. What I want is for an overlay of a mouse cursor to be on the screen. The tablet's screen now becomes like a laptop touchpad. If I move my finger left, the cursor moves left. If I pick my finger up the cursor stays, just like a touchpad. Tapping would be like a click, just like a laptop touchpad.

Does this exist? I've searched everywhere and all I get are programs to control your PC with your tablet. I saw some kind of app that was in development in 2011 but had since been canned (http://www.gesturekit.com/what-was-padkite/). I HAVE turned on the pointer in developer options, but when you lift your finger it goes away, and I need it to stay. It would also be nice to be able to tap anywhere to click where the cursor is, not exactly where the pointer is.

Anyone?

Yeah I can't really find anything that does that (since it pretty much goes against the entire point of a touchscreen based OS) but maybe this will point you in the right direction http://www.pocketmagic.net/android-overlay-cursor/. Perhaps the people there can help you out. This also seems like something that is up the alley of the folks at XDA-Developers Forums, so if you haven't you might want to try nosing around/posting there.

I am really curious to why you want this since I am having a hard time coming up with a use case that would require mouse emulation. If nothing else if we know why maybe someone can come up with an alternative you haven't thought of.

Or... you could plug in a mouse...sorry

Depending on your rom you may be able to turn on a visible pointer in developer options... However what your asking for seems to go counter to the way android touch interaction is enabled so I don't think it's something that is possible. Is Your device rooted btw?

Of course if we could know the problem your trying to solve with your desire for a mouse mode we might be able to help with that

I fully support amd underatand Jplinkus. I need exactly the same. And I know the reason - not all websites are prepared for portable devices. Either some content is missing in mobile version of the site or there is only desktop one. It's quite annoying to pinch and zoom all the time to precisely tap tiny links or buttons... especially popup ads closing x's. Therefore, a mouse pointer controled in a pad-like manner would be a greeeeeaaaaat relief. Well and some video player time-bars are hard to tap, too. Got it?

I am a developer and make the app you wanted. I really wonder why does not exist useful app for tablet or other wide mobile screens like touchpad and ro
cursor. So I decided to make that. It is so tough to excute that function. Unfortunately, It is only be used for rooted device but if you have that. It will be very useful app. It is free app, I recommend this app for tablet users and if it is not functional please see the app description. first, you must have rooted device, second if your android OS 5.0 or above , you have to download selinux mode changer in search google. set permissive and reboot your device. Have a good day.
If you want to find this app, google keyword search - easy touch auto clicker. and you will find the shape of arrow.

I don't have any sacrificial phones or tablets at the moment, so will have to give your app a miss.
