looking for Android tablet for my kids

going to jump on the train and say get a nexus device (or two, if you really want to throw the whole chunk of change at it).

good hardware, updates right from google, inexpensive, and no bloat. can't beat it.

I know this is Android Forums... but I'm also a teacher as well. I assume the kids would be using a tablet for education and learning as well as games. You might want to look at the Apple iPad Mini, simply because I think there's a lot more good quality and professionally written educational software on iOS than Android. I've recommended that some of my one-to-one students buy iPad Minis to help them in their studies.

yes,i think the children's study is quite important. So want to buy Android tablet for them.Maybe the apple mini is suitable,it is light and the kids easier carry it.but i have two kids, want to buy two Android tablets.Maybe this price can't buy apple brand. i found a Yundao brand Android tablets on the AMAZON ,how about it?

This is Chinese...can't really recommend this. ... You probably want to read our forum sticky about these things.....

And then read some of the sad tales of woe and heartbreak in General Tablet Talk...

I would recommend getting a tablet that has a capacitive touch screen rather than a resistive touch screen. A resistive touch screen is more difficult to use unless you like using a stylus. I bought a cheap android tablet that had a resistive touch screen and it lasted all of a day before I took it back and swapped it for a tablet that had a capacitive touch screen - most android phones have capacitive touch screens. Resistive touch has its place, but I feel it isn't suitable for an android tablet meant for kids.

I would go with Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 or a Google Nexus 7. I"m sure if you have $500 to spend, you could get 2 and have some change left over. After reading what others say about off brand tablets, I would not buy one.

I'm going to also jump on the Nexus 7 bandwagon. The two 16 GB Nexus 7's would be well within your budget (assuming you mean $500 USD) with some money left over to buy games/apps. For the price, its a remarkably solid tablet, with Google themselves backing it so no fears of lack of updates or warranty issues.

The Nexus 7 is a great device, but for practicallity and with kids, I'd pick the Galaxy Tabs so I can put micro SD cards in there and fill it with educational videos and cartoons.
