looking for case to use at gym

I know the question of cases for android phones has been addressed numerous times but I am looking for something functional and inexpensive.
My phone is the Optimus V and I already have it in a hard case.
Two or three times per week I go to my local gym and like to listen to tunes that I have on my SD card while working on some of the machines and floor mats.
What I would like is a case with a clip that doesn't immediately break off (I've tried some dollar-store cases which had that happen) and that allows the headphone plug to not be blocked by the top of the case.
Since this is not much usage I can't see investing more than $10 for a case like that.
Ebay has zillions of cases on sale but it's tough to know whether they'll fit the phone.
Can someone suggest a case?

Optimus V is pretty heavy and no clothing will hold it in place comfortably - at least none that is suitable for gym, should just grab a small MP3 player for a little more, like a sansa clip.
 
I'd suggest some sort of arm strap. I have one that's designed to use with an iPod, but I'm pretty sure it could hold a smartphone as well.

That's a good idea. I just hopped over to ebay and ordered one. It probably will do the trick. Thanks!
 
hit ebay for a leather OV case, real nice with a strong belt clip. like a case in a case, just cut a hole for your head phone jack.

I bought two of them and turned one into an under dash mount, I just cut a hole for my power cord.

look that up on Amazon. I have a silicone case on my phone and have to take it off when I put it in the armband and go for a run. Other than that no complaints! $5 and free shipping
 
If you want a good holder try "The CellBand". "The CellBand" is a wrist sports band converted to hold small devices. They make two models. One holds all kinds of small devices, and another that just holds smart phones. They are cheap $6.99 and $7.99. Also, you can buy at wholesale from $1.50-2.00 depending on how much you want.
