Help Looking forward to 3G simul anyone else??

Even if the service is not all that great or speedy I'm hoping to be able to receive emails while on the phone! Is that the way you guys understand it??

I never found sim data/calls really even that relevant or important. Just a talking point from ATT. When I had ATT i rarely if ever used it.

It's neat, but not really a big deal. There aren't too many time that I'm on the phone that I need to look something up on the Internet.

Ya... For me it's Vital for my Business. It's nice to know if I have an important email that needs to be addressed if I'm mobile and on a call.

Wouldn't voice/data at the same time come in handy when using Google Maps/Navigation? Haven't gotten an Android phone yet, so don't know. What happens to Google Nav if a call comes in and you want to answer it?

It will stop the Nav in it's current state. There are alot of benefits to simul for sure.... Tethering Nav downloading music etc

And the voice/data is said to be simultaneous for 3g as well, right? That being said, it does seem like a pretty significant feature. Especially for someone like me who is all excited about having their first Android phone and using Google Navigation.

I suppose if I answer a call and am talking, Google Navigation will still continue to give directions in the background?

It did this on older Android devices. Quite annoying when you have a BT earpiece in to have the person on the other end drowned out by the nav.

You don't need simultaneous voice and data to have a call and nav work at the same time.

No, thats the HTC Locations application. Their mapping software does that. Doesn't include traffic and whatnot for free, or I'd probably just use that as my main software.

Oh, does Google Nav still give directions while on a call because it basically just needs the data to download the route at the beginning? So what would data/voice simultaneously be a benefit for then when it comes to map and nav?

This.

Unless you're zoomed way in and pulling down sat. image layers, you don't pull a lot of data on the Nav. You can talk on the phone for at least an hour while driving 80 mph and the nav still works (did it driving down I75 going to Florida).

Also, as an FYI, Google Nav includes traffic rerouting now.

Always thought it was funny how AT&T made a huge deal about this issue on Verizon when I've never needed it once. Who cares if I get email while I'm on the phone? It can wait until I'm done. :)

Yeah, more I research it and want to think its a really cool feature, I can't find many instances where I need it.

I don't download a lot of music over the phone, the Google Navigation thing seems to have been cleared up, I don't often find myself talking on the phone and simultaneously needing to look up information for someone, and on the rare instance that it happens, I'm sure I wouldn't be angry hanging up and finding the info.

If you're using the Gmail App, you can look up old email it has downloaded, you just don't get new emails.

You also get text notifications while on a call, but I forget if you can actually read them or not. I think so...

Also, you can use data and voice already if you have Wifi available.

HTC Latitude, Maps, and Telenav Navigation are free on all the carriers except Verizon. I have no idea why other than greed. The new Telenav has traffic, weather, gas stations, parking, banks etc through "Layers". I used to think the phone nav was more or less a gimmick, but it has changed dramatically and I use it all the time if I don't know where I'm going. Talks to me right through my Bluetooth so I can listen to music and not miss a turn.

I talk on speakerphone all the time and read and reply to sms messages during the call without wifi.
