when you request pictures I take you mean pictures of different ROM examples?
the rooting process is pretty simple, adding ROMs is a little more involved but I figured it all out and did it last week myself.
As Gnath says, follow the guide. If you read a flock of the posts after the guide you will get a pretty good idea of the things people have had problems with or misunderstood.
Moved to Droid- All Things Root as this is a rooting question. The guide linked to above has what you need to get going.
