Loose battery cover and funky buttons?

I just got my Evo V 4G (3D) and the battery cover seems really loose. I could pop the corners of the cover off by running my finger along the side of the phone.

Also, when pressing the power and volume buttons there is no tactile feel of pressing a button. No click like all my other phones have. I hate that.

Is any of this normal or should I send the phone back for a replacement?

I'm not sure about the battery cover but the power button does act like that. It's one of its few flaws. How loose is it?

Yeah you have to be very careful when removing the cover because it's easy to distort the aluminum bezel surrounding the camera, you can always pick up a new cover from eBay for less than $5.

Sounds like you got my RMA:p

the evo's power and volume buttons have pretty bad tactile feedback. One of the few things i miss from the optimus v lol.

If you're rooted, you can also remap your camera button to be: "power" when pressed all the way down, and "camera" when pressed half-way, and just rely on auto focus, or tap to focus. (doesn't work on 4.1 roms, as far as i know).

^^ Wow, that's guy's battery cover was TIGHT! Notice at the end of the video on the side, the last part when he presses it in it clicks? Yeah, mine doesn't click at all, and that's the part that comes apart easily.

My cover also snaps. Yours is definitely faulty. I still advise the tape trick even with a working cover because the stock power button doesn't give much feedback and sometimes takes a very deliberate and precise push to work.

I made the joke about the RMA because your description sounds exactly like my old one I sent in for a return. I would try to get a new one. Battery cover should be tight and buttons shouldn't be loose on a new phone.

The new phone should be here Monday :)

My back cover is not entirely flush near the headphone jack either. Plus the camera button is kind of flimsy and not rigid.

I'd prefer not to return it but has anyone had success contacting HTC to get a free replacement standard battery cover sent out?

Since my phone was new I sent it back to Amazon for a replacement.

Got it in yesterday, and the cover is a lot tighter. Still a little gap on the left side but I can deal with that once the case comes in.

Your warranty is from wherever you purchased it during the first 30 days and then Virgin for the remainder of the year. Those are the choices for a free cover or you can get one from eBay for less than $ 5.

UPDATE: Exchanged the phone at Radioshack. The replacement's battery cover fits great, the camera button is more solid and the menu key lights up properly.

I'm glad I swapped it, that stuff would have bugged the crap out of me.
