Root Lose Barnacle Wifi Tether when update to Froyo on VM Intercept?

Currently my VM Intercept runs 2.1 rooted with Barnacle Wifi Tether.

I have been reading that 2.2 Froyo from VM cannot be rooted yet?
My question is if I upgrade my rooted 2.1, will the 2.2 remain to be rooted or do I need to root it again so Barnacle Wifi Tether will work?

I want to upgrade to 2.2 Froyo but need tethering software. Any advise on my situation?

I had no issues rooting 2.2.2 - see the 'root' thread on top of the VM-SI forum page.
