Help Losing connection

I can have 3 to 4 bars on my phone and still lose internet connection. Is there something I can do? At&t and Samsung captivate glide is carrier and phone.
 
Well i want to inform u that if you are having data problems as of yesterday at 1700hrs due to the deadly tornado that hit 2 times . Sell towers are out . These towers being down is forcing strain on other towers . So be patient cause all carriers are suffering .
