The US needs another large GSM Carrier to compete with AT&T. It's a shame they basically have a monopoly over the Technology, and therefore GSM phones, here.

Its a shame T-Mobile couldn't do it
Still, you shouldn't need more than 4 or 5 carriers, you should count yourselces lucky, Europe has 100s of carriers, and until the EU Commision stepped in roaming inside the EU would burn a hole in your pocket

I don't have problems with companies going silent. I just see so many phones launching on Sprint "coming out of nowhere". Being that Sprint also has the Nexus line now, it stands to reason they will be getting the next Nexus. I am crossing my fingers that this is an HTC device. Google has been pretty good about announcing the phone and then launching it very soon after. October-December seems to be their launch times. A good Xmas present, and I would be receiving full upgrade pricing. I am just crossing my fingers this isn't a Samsung.

We only REALLY have four (soon to be three). The small ones don't hardly count. If you are really comparing coverage, we really only have two huge competitors (ATT and Verizon).

Sprint has more coverage than AT&T.

Edit: talking about 3G ofcourse.

I'm pretty sure Sprint has AT&T beat on voice too. Especially with that roaming agreement with Verizon.

Who cares about GSM. GSM technology is more widely used by countries because the technology is so cheap. CDMA technology vastly supersedes GSM technology. When I have a problem hearing someone they are typically on a GSM carrier.

Behold, the Power of the Android Community: HTC to Unlock Future Bootloaders

this...this is why ill always be with htc...I've never seen this type of fan base loyalty from any company before...try getting this type of support from motorola or samsung.

I'm pleased too, but if you haven't seen this kind of loyalty from a fan base to a company before, head over to Apple land for a little while. :D Of course, they wouldn't have essentially rioted over anything the Tree of Jobs decreed.

While there are still questions, this is undoubtedly a step in the right direction. While I was throwing a fit too, I had overwhelming doubt that they'd reverse their stance. I guess is just goes to show that it is possible to win one every once in a while.

Me personally, I do not root phones, I can honestly care less if I can nor root the phone, I enoy the phone for what it is, not what can me modded...

hahah yea well i guess i shouldnt say I've NEVER seen this type of loyalty..but it still makes me glad to see that their are some big corporations out their that are will to listen to their own community..and for that reason alone is why they will have my support. Of course having great hardware is also a must but seeing as the 3d appears to be doing well in that department (easily overclockable dual core snapdragon up to 2.0ghz at least, 1080p recording which seems to be from the test videos pretty good, 1 gig of ram, 4 gigs internal memory for apps, sense 3.0..qhd slcd display etc plus the new adreno 220 gpu which seems to be competing directly with the sgs2 gpu this year etc etc) honestly thats all the phone i need for this year...next year ill upgrade to quad cores..and from their on it will most likely be better optimization for the established cores.

Roaming agreement for DATA roaming??? Because being a GSM carrier, AT&T can't go all red and roam on the CDMA voice of VZW... Unless there is something going on that I'm not privy to, that is. I've been wrong before though, mind you (and if you don't believe me, ask my wife). :D

I think the intent was to say Sprint's roaming agreement with Verizon in regards to voice. I think that is what is currently true, anyway.

DOH! What a doofus I am (again, ask my wife). :o I got it totally backwards. I thought alcohol was talking AT&T had roaming with VZW. Guess I shoulda went to bed rather than hoping for one glimmer of info that would point to a quickly upcoming release. Oh well, here 's to another day of hoping for hope!

Back on with Evo3D!
Sweet move by htc - they are now Beloved!:D
And everyone Feels a sense of Ownership ....
"Hey...I helped to do this"

Now I just sit back and Wait for the release date.....full upgrade eligible 6/15 -

Ohhh and Treehorn - Wu pissed on my rug....

They actually do not. ATT has Verizon beat pretty heftily as well.

My point was never to debate coverage maps, specifically. My point was to debate competitors. Verizon and ATT are to be the ones duking it out. Sprint is but a small thorn in either of their sides, not a true competitor, especially while they are paying roaming fees to Verizon.

I am definitely starting to lose interest, not complaining, just being honest... I guess the sensation will release before the evo 3d at this point

Another day goes by with no information, I seriously doubt it will be released next week

Don't rule it out completely. Didn't LG announce the Revolution release date tuesday this week and it was already for sale on thursday? Time frame may be off a day, but it was close like that. And while LG is not HTC, it may be the new pattern for these phones since so many are being released in the next few months...

If you've lost interest and want the Nexus S alternative, or know someone who can get a new account at Sprint, this weekend will be the time to do it - $50 new customer, $100 upgrade at Amazon - cheap!
