Terrible news 
She was a fantastic singer. She did a lot of work with The Cinematic Orchestra which is where I really gained an appreciation for her voice.

Virtuoso guitarist Bob Brozman died a week and a half ago. One of the best slide guitarists I have ever seen/heard. Met him most times I saw him play, and he was a complete gentleman.

That's all well and good but pretty soon the forum will be full of short threads for dead musicians. It'd be easy enough to search the thread for posts regarding your favourite dead muso. The fewer threads in a forum the better in my experience.

That's such sad news, I am a big fan of The Doors. I also have a strange connection to them, in that the song "Hello I Love You" is about my grandmother. Jim Morrison was continually asking her for a date and she wasn't having any of it

I just heard that Donald Byrd died in Feburary. I'm not sure how I missed it. He sure transformed Jazz during the 1970s.

This is from my neck of the woods. We autocross in the paddock of the racetrack turned private road. Of course some idiots still take their cars out there and race the entire track. That's what happened here.

While this is not a person, the venue Maxwell's in Hoboken has hosted many music greats; Nirvana, the Boss, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins to name a few. Even though I've never been there, I'm saddened by it just the same. Reading the article just gives you a sense that times, they are a changing.
