Help Lost my Esteem at school.

Hey bro.
I appreciate your reply, I downloaded PlanB already.
Awaiting a location email.
Will it give me an accurate location?
I don't have GPS on I don't think. :(

not sure with the esteem but I know it turned the evo location and gps on automatically. I'll test it out with my phone. If you have a friends phone you can try texting it the "finder word"
and yes it gave me a very accurate location

Well it's seems to me that the person who has my phone is stopping PlanB from downloading.

All I can say is keep trying. They nay have it off for now, or they're monitoring it and you'll have better luck downloading plan b while they're asleep
Hope you can get it back

i take it u didnt add the $5 insurance on it..... i really suggest paying the extra $5 a month if ur gonna have an expensive phone like the esteem. report the phone stolen to metro they will deactivate it and black list the esn so the user wont be able to use it in future use.

honestly now is not the time to say you should of done this and you should have done that. He really just needs to focus on getting his phone back. Not trying to be rude

If you read plan b works even after you lost your phone and insurance is another option which he can add at anytime if he dosn't have it and people are trying to get him a phone.

Wrong, the insurance have to be added when you are activating your phone for the first time. ;)

Hes not gonna get it back the kid that took it is not gonna be dumb enough to return and say hes sorry so if all is lost i say make the a phone an offcial brick.;) and if hes trying to download using the market thinking the app after it installs is gonna run on its own hes wasting his time it has to be installed and ran manually the first time and be setup.

the "kid" that had my phone didn't just simply give my evo back. I met him at his car after he got off work. I had a nice little surprise for him
and the phone doesnt need to to have the app pre installed....
"Plan B is the 'find my phone' app that you download AFTER you lose your phone.
Plan B is your last resort to find your missing phone" <----- straight from their website, plus I have personal experience with this app
you download this app straight off the website

I was talking about the above post saying that "you should have bought insurance". I know the app works if you install it after it gets stolen.... why do you think I posted the link lol

This is a good wake up call me for me, since I don't have any "Wheres my phone" kind of app installed O_O

from what i know if location is on you can track it that way also, remeber to accept the terms of google location. ;)
Nize yea i didnt know anything about this app thats why i assumed it had to be manually ran atleast once, but anyways nothing to do with topic but what happened to ur green tags :O

Why do people turn this off? When you leave it enabled the GPS is NOT ON. It will only turn on when an app tries to use it and will turn back off when you exit the app. Now you have to hope it can get an accurate location from the cell towers. Not to mention if whoever has your phone reset it than you cannot push Plan B to it anyway (likely since kids know how to do this).

Probably because they already wiped the phone so they can sell it on Craigslist. I hope you have the insurance plan.

EDIT: And how do you lose a phone? I don't know about you but I always know where mine is. You might also want to check if it was turned in at school, they would have turned the phone off so it wouldn't ring constantly.

Most phone thief's will target specific in-demand phones and the first thing they do is a factory reset. Makes those "find-my-phone" apps worthless in about 5 seconds.

Really? wow i didnt know that so it wouldnt matter if u bought the phone from craiglist u still could add insurance to it?

Exactly I know cause I work for metro PC's the insurance company seen they can make money like that so they changed it
