Lost SMS

Hey all

I've been a complete f****ng idiot (just for a change) and in an attempt to restore full volume to the dialer keypresses, i cleared the storage for the dialer app, not knowing it actually held all SMS and MMS messages. Now, i do know where these are normally held on the phone, but I'm not rooted so I can't see if it's still there. I might do an unrevoked later just to see. Just to top it all off, SMS Backup & Restore failed its last backup and so I've lost all texts from the last few days before I last backed up to the PC. Basically, does anyone know if, despite my idiotic behaviour, my texts will still be held in storage?

There's another app, I don't recall the name, which backs up your SMS messages to GMAIL. I'm guessing it does it automatically, so you'd never lose anything. You could try that.

My guess is, if you cleared the data, it's gone. I doubt Android keeps a backup in some secret place only Root users can get to. Try asking in the Root forum?
