Lost / Stolen Phone

I want to buy some mobile anti-virus and theft protection for my Sony Xperia Ray, either lookout or Norton.

But I have a question :- what stops a thief getting hold of my phone and just deleting the app before I get the chance to lock it or wipe it ?

i have cerberus installed for those functions, a good way of securing your phone is to have it password protected.

within the app itself there are options to hide it from the app drawer so they wont even know its on there.

Also, if the app can be setup as a device administrator it can't be uninstalled without this setting being disabled. If you try to uninstall an app that is enabled as a device administrator, the uninstall will fail, without any indication as to why.

It's certainly not foolproof, but it might slow down the average phone thief.
