LOST the passion to wait

likewhoa

Lurker
I have been following this forum since the first images of the so called PASSION HTC phone with it's 1GHz snapdragon cpu, etc.. but I pretty much had it and decided to buy the only other phone that comes close to the description of the PASSION.

Anyways, I will stay with that phone and by the time my upgrade period comes around, I am sure there will be a badASS phone or a PASSION2 because nobody should have to wait months for an imaginary phone!! YES that means you the reader. ;)

P.S
If PASSION arrives next month I am going to be so freaking mad, lol

To be honest, I think it's come to a general consensus that the Passion was an internal codename for the Nexus One

makes sense now that I think about it, but weren't the specs for the so called PASSION running a SnapDragon at 1GHz while the Nexus One is running an Qualcomm QSD 8250 1 GHz?

PASSION running a SnapDragon at 1GHz = the Nexus One running a Qualcomm QSD 8250 1 GHz

Same difference

Same speed but not same CPU core. Eitherway, I am going with nexus until something better comes along until I am able to upgrade.

I'm confused.

PASSION = NEXUS ONE. same processor.

which phone are you talking about.

Snapdragon is QC's codename for that range of processors. In short QSD8250 is a snapdragon! This year we'll see 2 new processors in the snapdragon range:

8X50A: 1.3 GHz; available in endproducts at the end of 2010
8X72: dual-core, each core clocked at 1.5 GHz; capable of decoding 1080p

iirc the passion images show a pull out keyboard, maybe that was some other phone and this is why I was confused. Also the cpu named kind of confused me as "SnapDragon == Qualcomm"

snapdragon is a nice buzz word, but in reality you need to look at the speed, video acceleration, onboard caches and nm process. You almost need to think of these cpu's as a CPU + motherboard + graphics card all in one. Look at the same stuff you would if it was a PC.

Remember these are APP processors with graphics, sound, baseband all built into the same processor.

The Cortex A8 for example is very fast for its speed rating. Right now the snapdragon is probably the best and fastest processor compared to any other at equivalent speed, but that could change very quickly!

(only speaking about mobile app processors of course!)

Just think of it like Pentium = Intel and Athlon = AMD.
