Lost user guide since 2.1 update?

I have just uopdated to Android 2.1 via Pc companion and have lost the user guide in the phone.

I have downloaded the guide from SE site which is in a zip folder. I have extracted the contents to a new folder named .emanual and put this on the micro sd card inside the folder named others.

However when I try to open it on the phone it just says no user guide on the sd card?

Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong please?

The guide on Sony Ericsson tells you to rename the file emanual.zip but if you do this literally, right click rename and type in emanual.zip then by the time you copy it over to the phone you have a file called emanual.zip.zip and the phone can't find/read the file. It works fine if you just rename it emanual and then XP adds the .zip automatically as that is the type of file that it is.

I hope that makes sense - it is what worked for me.

I did report this error to the Forum manager at SE talk forum as I moderate there too but obviously they haven't cleared up this information.

Can you let me know if the fix works for you too and I will then chase them up again!

Thanks very much that works a treat. Your help is appreciated. I have only just got the 2.1 update as I am on Vodaphone UK. I never got a message on the phone either.

Glad it worked!

I have chased the Community Manager again so he can raise it internally to get it changed.

I have two file managers on the phone Astro and Linda, Astro only shows the file name which I thought was correct as it was reading emanual.zip but couldn't get the darn thing recognised so in desperation went in to Linda to see if it would give me a different install option. Linda actually shows the file extension at which point it was obvious that emanual.zip.zip wasn't going to work!
