Well, not sure about turning the volume up on it, but there should be a way to push an app called "Plan B" to your phone from the Android Market which will allow you to find your phone.

I actually think I've read about an app that might turn the volume up remotely, but I can't remember the details at the moment. Try the Plan B thing first, its an ideal solution for your situation.
