Love this phone!

Hi folks,

I wanted to share my Thunderbolt experience, in case anyone else riding the back end of the technology curve is lurking. I upgraded from a Droid back in early December, and I just wanted to say this phone has been awesome so far. I'm cheap so I buy a phone when it has aged a bit and it goes on sale. I was trying to get the TB for free at BestBuy at Thanksgiving, but missed it because of some mis-communication with the sales rep. Oh well, still got it for $50 and with a free extended battery from VZ.

The phone has a nice smooth feel compared to the Droid, and so far in a couple of drops on tile floor and in the car, with no apparent damage, it seems to be pretty durable. I didn't want to press my luck, so I bought a seidio active case, which fortunately hasn't affected my gps signal as some have reported.

Also got the rezound battery because the extended battery is pretty hulk'ish although I do like the little ledge it offers to make holding the phone easier. I can go most of the work day with moderate use with the rezound bat. I actually feel like the battery life hasn't been much worse than it was on my Droid, and I get 4G and a bigger screen so overall, I'm very happy. I was really hesitant at first with the bad rep, but so far so good.

I've been researching the rooting/unrooting procedures, but am enjoying it stock for now. Was rooted and running Peter Alfonso's latest GB on the Droid, so will probably eventually make the plunge when I feel like tinkering.

Thanks for all the information here, it all helped me make up my mind.

I too came from the OG droid and have been loving this phone. I haven't gone with the rezound battery, sticking with the huge extended battery; I have grown to like the extended the battery a little more as it feels good in my hand and is great because I never need a charge at work anymore.

Yeah that battery is a beast... it lasts forever, but it didn't take long to get used to the slim factor with the rezound battery! I like having options. Extended battery for travel, rezound battery for the daily driver.

I still love my phone...even after 10 months :). I never did download the update that caused the reboots as I never dl updates w/o reviews on it. I posted a thread on my upgrade eligibility and am still just going to hang on to this phone. It does everything I need it to do.
