Help low memory question ?

Once rooted, the custom ROMs available provide a2sd (apps 2 sd) support. This allows the user to free up their internal phone storage memory and export apps and such to the SD card. Depending on the size of your SD card, you won't have to worry much about memory.

You can also use Titanium Backup or Root Explorer (available in the Market) to get rid of system applications that take up stored memory.

I wouldn't say that Velocity is the most stable, I've seen a lot of people having issues with it as well. I believe Punisher and Velocity are equally stable and the user should be the one that decided which is better - after all, every phone is different.

Punisher could be as stable, if not more, but, as I said, "from what I gathered"

Amy... you're not stupid.
Those that don't tinker everyday can get a little overwelmed.

To answer your question... you do have a trash folder, it's just not in plain sight.
When you email is open, hit the menu key, then folders.
Trash is the last (usually) option.
You can either delete them one by one or check (on the left hand side, oposite of the scroll wheel) them all (one by one unfortunately) then delete all those checked at once. It frees up gynormous amount of space.
NOTE:
No need to do this for Gmail as all Gmail is stored in the server online, and NOT your phone. I hope this helps.
PS
You will want to delete old chat messages too, especially ones with pics as they take up a good chunk of memory to hold.

Yeah, that's what I ran into too And I'm a techno-geek.

Well, obviously, the URL is a link to download the correct ROM (Make sure it's a Ally-compatible ROM).

The "Wipe cache, Dalvik Cache, and Data" are things to be done in the Recovery mode (Power off phone, bring phone online, and hold down CALL, MENU, and END) Before you get there, you need to feel comfortable rooting your phone!

To do that, you can download z4root. It's a "One-click root" that works great for the Ally, and you're not risking much at all doing it. Even if you kill it part way through.

Go to the above URL on your phone, so you can download the z4root right there And, you must go into Settings --> Applications --> And check "Unknown Sources"

Copy that onto your SD card, and install it. Get comfortable with that, and the next step will be to get a recovery ROM loaded, so you can get the next steps done.

Yes, you can root your phone without doing a custom ROM image. It does open up other avenues you can pursue (Like wifi tethering, and using the LED as a flashlight, etc).

Now, I'll add the disclaimer here: Rooting your phone will void your warranty. As long as they know it's rooted. With z4root, I would guess the likelihood of bricking a phone is slim, however, it is in the realm of possibility. So, proceed at your own risk.

z4root has a temp mode, a permanent mode, and a Un-do mode. Temp is just that: Your phone is rooted just until it reboots. Permanent is rooted until you click "Undo". The "Undo" button remove the rooting of your phone.

I've done the z4root about 5 times, and even have stopped it in the middle, with no irreparable damage, just some irritation (I had to undo-redo root a few times).

But, if you just root the phone with z4root, you wont have all the "neat things" people talk about, but you do open it up to be able to do more.

Yeah, VZW can be a pain... And, I can't outright promise a rooting wont kill your phone, the only thing I can say is the chance is very slim (If you use z4root).
