Help Low on space?

I have a notification that is persistent and tells me that i am low on space, when clearly i have around 3gbs left. So is there anyway to get this fixed?

it's low disk space on your internal memory.... your going to have to uninstall some apps or root your phone and use app2sd or wait untill we get Froyo update then we will be able to save the apps on sd.

I thought the apps saved onto the sd card. You learn something new everyday!
