Help LS720ZV6 Update : Do I Want It? (Virgin Mobile)

I'm rooted via motochopper and have accepted the update three times only top have it abort each attempt. So far no issues other than some minor loss of data that I hadn't backed up. I have only removed VM bloatware and not LG bloat, maybe this is why I haven't soft bricked? Since it's an LG update not a VM or Android IS.

I had same problem always update failed with no ill effects. I then installed cwm and the next time i accepted the update my phone soft bricked. I then un-bricked it using the un- brick method and when phone restarted i installed the update succesfully. I then re-rooted using saferoot but did not re-install cwm.

you could always go through the un brick method starting over with a like new phone. install update then reroot with saferoot.

I reset my phone with the unbrick method and the update still fails. Any ideas?

EDIT: tried it again and updated as quickly as possible and it worked! Finally.

Does anyone have a link to the VM F3 stock ROM.bin file? I'm trying to restore after a failed root after I updated cause the phone went wacky. Now I can't do anything and it's useless brick....I've tried the .bin files that I've downloaded from other threads about how to restore stock ROM but to no avail...

I used this link from the unbrick sticky thread and it worked fine for me:

It took a long time to download, but it worked.

Ok, got it to start downloading. Apparently VLC media program was "claiming" the .bin file as it's own so I uninstalled it! Fingers crossed!

I've managed to flash V6 and to reroot - no more nag messages to update. To answer the OP's question, I can't tell the difference between V5 and V6.

I created an account just to reply to this thread!

I was rooted with motochopper and V6 broke my phone. Complete factory reset and the update failed. I had to reinstall everything, reroot, and now it's prompting me to update again. Will try to turn off the update reminders.

Wife's phone was not rooted, and already updated to V6 when I checked. I wanted to root her phone as well, but motochopper is not working with V6. I'm afraid if I get to V6 with my phone, I won't be able to root with motochopper either.

These days, whether on V5 or V6, saferoot is the best method for rooting an F3. It also allows you to use gherkaul's CWMT recovery, which I highly recommend.

If these work out for you, please take a moment to like/thank them. :)

Thanks, I'll try it with my wife's V6 phone and let you know. Hopefully I can then upgrade my phone because the nag screen isn't going away even after installing the app from post #4 (i think it was).
