Is that typically a good LTE speed? They're charging the earth for LTE in the UK. can't believe this is what all the fuss is about.

I have no idea what the LTE speeds will be like in the UK. But for the USA that is pretty good. But this is also a new tower upgrade for Sprint and I'm pretty sure not many people were on at the same time as me

Since UK LTE is much less mature than the USA, I doubt they're as fast as your speeds here.

Unfortunately, if it's anything like AT&T and Verizon, those speeds quickly become 10-12Mbps once the network has traffic.

Pre-iphone 5 when ATT rolled out LTE in Philadelphia, I was getting 30-35Mb down and 25+ up. That changed quickly after the i5 release. Don't get me wrong, LTE is still super quick compared to any HSPA+ or 3G service I previously had.

SU, what kind of insane rates are carriers attempting to charge for LTE in the UK? Luckily I've held onto my unlimited grandfathered ATT data plan for $30/month and will shed blood before giving it up! :)

Totally. Im happy with my mega cheap, unlimited 3g speeds. I suppose it would be nice to load a full desktop version of a site page full of pics in the click of a finger but i rarely need that and other than that.. downloading movies/albums is the only time id ever notice it.
I can stream a whole movie on youtube without any pauses or anything so cheap hspa+ is fine by me :)
Would hate to have to pay the data prices in US man

I dont know about 4g but in UK we can get unlimited 3g, ultd text and 250 mins for

I just tested my speed. I used to hit 50Mbps when it first came out in our city. 40Mbps is still faster than my home network. :)

Lol tethering isnt technicaly allowed on my pre-pay sim but ive tethered like 20gb in a month (we dont have home broadband) and never been cut off :)
Theres so much competition here that if i did get cut off, id just order a new sim from the same carrier or a different one. The key is not to be tied to a contract.
I owe Vodafone like

4G / LTE is pointless in the UK. Only provider being EE, they have some stupid data limits - what is the point in faster speeds when I am over the limit within days of actually using it.

My provider here (same as SURoot's) - Network 3 - has quite a good coverage in HSPA+ and three has a no nonsense unlimited bandwith (easily pull 4-6GB / month due to tethering) - that costs me what, $55 (

Im with 3 but i dont regret not having a 4g phone.
Hopefuly people using 4g will free up the 3g frequency n make it faster (its already fast enough tbh)

"3" seems to have issues lately - where i usually have full receiption at hoime - I now keep dropping signal - same with my S3 or my wife's iPhone 4S ...
