Root M130 Rooted!

I'm doing the GNM recovery using the CP terminal on the phone. I get hung at:

mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak

Say's: "failed on: system/etc/install-recovery.sh
no such file or directory"

I checked and "install-recovery.sh.bak" is in system/etc.

permissioned have been returned to 755, I believe.

any thoughts?

It means that your "install-recovery.sh" has been renamed to "install-recovery.sh.bak" in short terms you're succeeded

I finally figured out the GNM easy script using ADB from my Mac. Now I'm backed up!

Seems easier by using MAC instead of WindBlows lol.
You can check your backup file under /sdcard/nandroid.
The folder naming file structured by the time you performed the backup.

Btw CONGRATULATION !!!

regarding resetting original permission is it 755 or 775?
also do I remove the second 2 line entry that
had chown root.root etc... and chmod etc.....
thanks. btw I have root, have installed superuser, busybox and titanium,
but when running adb cant get
# only $
also root checker basic reports root access granted.
a little confused because without # i am not able to run
gnm recovery and nandroid bu.
thanks for any replies,
dave

Here is a tip for adb. Google adb insecure. Chainfire have a free app. Do it on your phone and down load it. Make sure mock locations is ticked on and allow root acc. When its is done installing. Go into adb insecure and enable insecure adbd and enable at boot. And make sure you adb ticked on in development. Reboot you should be good to run adb commands from pc.

thanks used adb insecure and now have my # prompt. now will try making
back up as described in earlier posts. I'll post with a success story asap thanks for help. I almost gave up.

It works great. I use it all the time. Saves me a lot of time when I am themeing . I can just push my themed apks. Instead of going into recovery and flashing them. Glad I could help.

all in one recovery ran well and rebooted to the blue screen with choices but I
could not get it to make a selection and whatever I must have touched started my phone over so I dont think I actually backed up anything. How do I get back
to that screen and how do I select to backup files.
I saw r_hippy post regarding making selections but that was after I got rebooted. Any ideas, I'm almost there.
I dont have to run the whole install script again?
dave

hope this isn't taking this thread to far sideways but this is an important part of rooting this phone I think.
obviously I'm way new to this whole process.

this is what the command screen showed before the phone went to the screen with choices (as shown in the all in one recovery thread in all thing root from this forum). maybe this might help someone to understand what I'm trying to spit out.

C:\>adb shell
# cat /sdcard/recoveryflash/recoveryflash.sh > /data/local/recoveryflash.sh
cat /sdcard/recoveryflash/recoveryflash.sh > /data/local/recoveryflash.sh
# chmod 0755 /data/local/recoveryflash.sh
chmod 0755 /data/local/recoveryflash.sh
# /data/local/recoveryflash.sh
/data/local/recoveryflash.sh
This must be run from root # shell

I think they where trying to tell you to use terminal emulator from the play store. Not every one can under stand how to us adb on the pc.

Use titanium back to boot to recover or a program called quick boot from Google play store

use the touch screen to navigate through the menu and the left bottom button to select .

yes yes yes. with the help of several people I finally got it. rooted, backed up and with several programs frozen for now.
I went and read the recovery thread, duh, and saw the abd command to start reboot recovery and saw posts on moving around and executing the screen on the phone and presto it worked. I am more comfortable with gui interface but didn't see r_hippy's post before I already got it to work from my pc and adb.
thanks for the help r_hippy and thanks to monkeytools for info on adb insecure as I was way stuck. Many thanks to everyone of you supper smart fellas to make this phone more manageable and able to hang with my 15 yr old daughter's newer phone. increased sd card cache for better read speeds and all feels good now.

you can try V6 Supercharger script for some more performance :D

I fat fingered a backed up file from my titanium app and deleted it by accident.
phone still works fine but I would still like a bu of the file and cant find it on my phone. can anyone help out?
it's called,
com.nec.android.mim

running android 2.3.3
build number for the missing file says
2010911.111646
thanks for reading,
dave

it was bu'p on titanium pro app. still has reference to the file but now shows no back up and it must have been one that I froze and then later deleted. No problems with phone I just was bummed I touched the wrong place on screen and erased my bu of that file. I also can't find another reference to that file with an internet search, but I double checked the titanium reference to file for correct and full file name. Only search pertinent result was mim being related to instant messaging. Thank you for checking much appreciated.

I have a full backup and a nandroid backup titanium back up.. all stock app backups.. and I can not find that file ..nothing even close
I even did a search on my phone..
searched titanium on my rig and my phone I even searched Google..
I can't find the file or even anything about it on line...
sorry bud..
If the phone is working .. and something goes wrong there are plenty of calculator members that will help get you rolling again.

if you know the directory it was in let me know

I feel a bit of an idiot about now as I left out a part of the file name.
it should be com.nec.android.ncmc.mim
I left out the ncmc in my earlier post.
getting old sucks!
dave
please dont go out of your way but if you get a chance to look once more with the proper file name, maybe I'll get lucky.
thanks

Nada. File is not on my phone may be from a app you have and I don't. Sorry bud. Good luck

thanks for looking. Makes sense that it is a file left over from some app I don't have or use anymore.Time to forget about it and enjoy my :D:D bloatfree and faster phone.

I have Quick Boot installed from the app store but the problem I'm having is that it shows a white triangle with a yellow exclamation mark, and a green bot just below it and stays on that screen. So, you think bringing up a command window with "ADB Reboot Recovery" will get the job done? Appreciate the help and advice.:)
