Root M130 Rooted!

I asked this last week in the other thread but got no reply...

Has anyone removed the PTT app and if so did it cause any problems? I no longer have a commando but I'm working on one for a friend and he does not want the custom recovery put on the phone.

I am at M130 update and have "frozen" the Push to talk 1.48 service and have not had any issues with my phone if this helps.

if you install titanium you can restore it back at any time
I believed if you have a issue ..
back it all up before you start to uninstall stuff .. so at least you can get back to stock ( but rooted)
Happy Tweaking

The problem with titanium is that there are some apps that will put you into a FC loop that you have to do a battery pull to get out of. This is fine most of the time but there are some system apps that will make the phone boot loop if you remove them and then reboot. Without a nandroid available or a way to recover I wanted to make sure the PTT app wasn't one of these apps.

I ran into the same problem of superuser not being able to update the su. When I rooted my phone it updated just fine, but when I was rooting a coworkers the su failed to update. I noticed that they did not have usb debugging enabled and did not allow apps from unknown sources. Enabled those two options and it updated just fine after that.

I have now rooted 5 different commandos for people at work and so far so good!

Just got this phone for work. Thanks for the guides. Got it rooted...after a couple typing errors on my part. Just glad to be getting rid of this bloatware...phone seems slow compared to personal s3...so this helps a ton.

Thanks again for all the posts...

...another commander rooted

This thread seems to have a lot of noobs like myself register..
A developer. :) to take on the phone to make a great work phone

Yes i concur, still hoping some geeks or developers to get into this.

I would also like to express my unending gratitude to the gerdy dev's out there that made this happen. You have successfully given Commando owners worldwide the ability to actually ENJOY their smartphone.

A million billion thank you's on behalf of all users!

"22. Disconnect your phone from your computer."

at which point do you connect the phone to the PC? Before step 1?

Thanks guys, new to Smartphones, hope to become a regular member

Plz help, I went through the whole process which took awhile to figure out with alot of problems. All seemed to go perfectly fine, but when i check to see if its rooted (with the root checker basic app) it tells me that its not rooted. Is there any other way to see if its rooted?

Nevermind i figured it out.... somewhat its rooted now is all i know, idk what was wrong... but i rebooted twice. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THIS FORUM YALL ARE AMAZING!

Im in need of help... before rooting was for fun and to get stuff but now my phone has lost the functionality of being a phone. I believe i deleted a system apk and my phone app is black and my messaging app continuiously loads...now i have reset my phone in hope of a fast fix so its no longer rooted, although im working on getting it rooted again. So if anyone out there who checks this thread has a back up of the system dump, factory apks, or anything that u may think might help. either post or email me plz help!

Need help, I have rooted my phone before using this process, but I have no idea how I kept doing it over and over and I must have done something to activate the root. So, now I'm trying to root my phone again and Ive run into the same problem...but this time its not working. Ive done the process of 1.add code to file 2.restart 3. copy su (back out to save IDK if ness.) and 4.add other code and restart. yes ive down everything correctly. last time I rooted I think I remember having to restart twice on the last step. any ideas??

When you pushed the su did you set the user/group and permissions

The problem with titanium is that there are some apps that will put you into a FC loop that you have to do a battery pull to get out of. This is fine most of the time but there are some system apps that will make the phone boot loop if you remove them and then reboot. Without a nandroid available or a way to recover I wanted to make sure the PTT app wasn't one of these apps.

In regards to the FC loop I found that if I pressed the power button, waited a few seconds and pushed it again, the "slide to unlock" screen will come up. If you then hold the power button, you'll be given the option to shut off the phone. I had this happen for some of the "com.NEC" apps, but had no issues after rebooting.

If you don't use the stock launcher or any of the GZone apps, here is a list of everything I have disabled/uninstalled (I backed them up with Titanium backup and uninstalled them with Root App Delete so I know I wasn't removing a critical system process). Haven't experienced any issues. My phone flies now. I think the only bloatware I didn't uninstall was the tactile key since I use that for Voice Search. Of course I recommend disabling/freezing/backing up these apps before uninstalling them in case you run into any issues. Like I said, this kills the stock launcher, too, so be careful and of course I'm not responsible since I'm just posting what worked for me :-)

Thanks to everyone that figured this out!
