Help M8 is Muting itself

My M8 has started self muting in two different ways. First, after about a week of operation (between re-boots), the ringer will mute itself. The sound settings will show that it is muted and the setting cannot be changed without rebooting. After rebooting, it will be fine for another week or so.

Second, also after about a week of operation, the text message notification sound will mute itself. In settings, the sound is not shown as muted and you can change the setting for notification volume, but it has no real effect; text messages are still silent until the phone is rebooted.

Has anyone else had this problem? Can it be fixed without a hard reset?

Thanks,

I would start removing apps. If you have downloaded any volume or call blocking apps I would get rid of them. If removing the apps do not work there is nothing else you can try outside of a reset.

I used to be just like you but I backup my phone to gcloud. So a reset is nothing and takes a few minutes to download everything back to my phone. I had to do it with my M7. Sometimes OTA updates are missing files and in that case you have to have the carrier reinstall the OS.

Why not just reboot once a day?
I shut down every night and turn on every morning and have no issues at all with anything. So even if you "must" keep the phone on all night (which i understand) then at least when you wake up in the mrning do a 60 second reboot and start fresh! ;)
