Problem - no email being downloaded either to GMail app or Mail app on the phone.
I have been using the standard Mail app successfully for well over 12 months. This week it has stopped downloading mail although mail can still be sent. This initially affected the account with my ISP (Virgin Media) and then gmail.
It happened after problems with configuration of the Virgin account in Outlook on my laptop which were successfully resolved. The account now works perfectly on the laptop.
The VM account is configured consistently in Outlook and on the phone and uses (as it always has) POP3, sync is enabled on the phone, I have restarted the phone several times, toggled sync on and off etc. Nothing has worked.
The settings HTC sent today for the Mail account use an IMAP server but the phone previously worked fine with POP settings (and indeed there is no facility to use IMAP in the Virgin account).
Any suggestions gratefully received since this is driving me nuts at the moment and is massively inconvenient (and wasting a good deal of my time) and I am extremely keen to avoid a factory reset.
