Help Mail notification issue

I received email today I delete mail then it reappears as new mail but when I go to delete again it does not show up on the delete page.
But they are showing up as new mail still?
Tried a battery pull did not work.
Any thoughts or ideas?

Not really sure.

Just throwing an idea out there. What happens when you delete via PC?

tried it already though and they are still showing as new messages
when I try to open them nothing happens
if I long press the message I get a option to delete and when I select delete then get " the application Mail)process com.htc.android.mail)has stopped unexpectedly.please try again"
