Root "Main version is older"-Hboot 0.93.0001 -How to beat it ?

ARGH!!! Dont give up. I've got exactly the same issue. Caused by pretty much the same error on my behalf.
Can boot to HBOOT (vol DOWN, press power)
Can get into recovery (from HBOOT select RECOVERY, wait for red triangle, hold vol UP, press power)
Have tried heaps of different PB99IMG.zip's and heaps of update.zip's with no luck.

Basically, HTC/Telstra updated HBOOT to version 0.93 and enabled S-ON (security on) which basically leaves you with no way of upgrading or downgrading HBOOT. AlphaDev have made an excellent boot CD to disable (sort of) S-ON but you have to be in USB debugging to run it (same with Revoked of course). When the furthest you can get is HBOOT also FASTBOOT and the built in recovery I mentioned earlier.

I CAN use fastboot commands from my PC but CAN'T use any adb commands as adb isnt detecting the device (no USB debugging again).

I FOUND THE SOLUTION (excuse the all caps but I'm pretty pumped right about now).
Just go to this link and do what they say....

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1564427

The main thing you need from this is the http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_Fro...41.2-1.25.841.5_release_Puyk1n84ucirkwseq.zip file.
Rename it so update.zip and drop it on your SD card (I used a goldcard but it might not be essential).
Enter HBOOT (hold vol down, press power, release vol down when the HBOOT screen appears), wait for the PB99IMG.zip to be rejected (about 5 seconds) then press vol down once to highlight RECOVERY and press power.
This looks like it tries to boot then fails but when the red triangle appears, hold vol UP and press power (release vol up when the recovery menu appears).
Select install update.zip from SD card and cross your fingers.

It took about 10 mins with progress indicators along the way and so far the only concern is that it's not finding my SIM card. Mind you, I havent touched anything yet and wanted to get this post up for anyone else who is suffering this.

It is an brand Desire, I rooted, I loaded custom rom (worked fine), but the ROM manager screwed up something. I guess, it reflashed the bootloader (or recovery?), but failed. :(
Now the desire cannot boot. It stucked at the screen, with logo afer reset and freez.
The bootloader says :

BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-5.10.05.23

If I try to go to RECOVERY the screen goes white, and nothing happens.

If I put the PB99IMG.zip to SD card, the HBOOT finds it, but says, "Main version is older"

Is any way to reFlash the rom ?

What to do ?

----------------------

hi you
did you solve your problem because I have the same problem as you :(
I have HBOOT:0.93.0001

I have resolved my issue. I used Revolutionary (the new AlphaRev + Unrevoked combination), and could not get root. I tried all sorts to get it working.

In the end it was this post that helped:

[Q] s-off struggle - Page 2 - xda-developers

The live cd method worked fine for me just now, in under 10 minutes I have S-OFF!

I actually just got this to work fine with the CD method - about 8 minutes and I have S-OFF!

The problem must have lain with the stock rom I was left with after creating a goldcard and rooting. Is it possible that this process leaves you with your stock (shipped) rom that has no identity, hence not recognised? Indeed, is that the point of creating the goldcard and I am missing it?

Anyway I post this for anyone else considering the procedure - Alpharev S-OFF 1.8 works fine for a rooted Desire running Oxygen 2.0.1 and Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7. No need to restore a backup - it booted just fine first time after the procedure.

Thanks all for viewing and posting

I flashed Oxygens Mod, ran Revotionary, and within 1min I had S-Off.

Hope this helps someone else. (BTW) I had the CID error no matter how hard I tried.
