Accessories Mains charger problems

I recieved a uk mains charger from e-bay today.When i plug it in the phone freezes and does random screen changes.It seems to charge ok but i basically cant use it as the screen wont respond properly to any swipe actions etc.Is it safe to use,could it be damaging the phone in anyway????Advise please.

Let me guess, 3rd party charger? I've experienced this before.

hmmm...third party chargers, always dodgy in my eyes. I use the my old htc hero charger as my spare and the one that came with the phone as my main i.e. they have the same output.

I use my old nokia charger for my DHD as its the same, my DHD charger comes with me in my bag while im working in case the bat gets low
