Help Maintenance update released.

I've never seen a definitive analysis of what running (but never used) applications do to your battery,

I see these new applications but look in my running applications and I don't see them as running. I have never opened any of them, don't plan on it either.

Nova is running on mine and I've never started it. Sprint Navigation is running and it's been a few months since I've started it and I've rebooted the phone a few times since.

It's hard to believe that a bunch of people at Sprint all sat at a table and had a meeting and made the decision to force not-needed, non-OS applications to run without the option (other than task killers) to shut them down and no way of uninstalling them. I mean, really. A game I don't want must be running on my phone at all times? Did the makers of Nova pay Sprint for that?

Go over on the Sprint Message Board about the update.

Looks like Sprint and not HTC is in control of what apps are added as bloatware.

Love how Sprint blames HTC and HTC points right back at Sprint.

"We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with the features added in the last firmware update for your Evo, xxxx. Sprint is in full control of what gets added/removed/modified to a particular update. Anything not branded with HTC was not added by us. When a carrier requests that a particular feature is to be added to an update, we are under contractual obligation to add it to the phone. That being the case, we are not authorized to remove it from an update, or to even make it removable, as per Sprint's request. The only way to remove pre-installed apps is to root the device, as any software added to the phone becomes part of the phone's ROM. Thank you for taking the time to contact us, xxxxx. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. We are always happy to be of assistance. Keep in mind that we are here to answer any questions or concerns between 6am to 1am EST, 7 days a week for your convenience. Hey i just downloaded the update and my phone is stuck with a picture of the evo with a red triangle and exclamation point. I am not rooted or anything

Fix for sirius app
I checked the reviews for the Sirius app on the market today and there was a couple of reviews on how to fix the problem with the app. I called Sprint and spoke to a tech support person about what I read on the market. He had no updates on weather it would work or not but we tried it and it worked fine.
Enter phone Dialer and dial ##3282#
Edit mode
Enter MSL (get from Sprint tech support) I forgot the number
Advanced
Change HTTP PD Proxy Port to 0 (zero)
Change HTTP PD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
After I did that everything worked fine

I dont know if anyone else posted, but I was having random reboots, averaging 4-5 per day... since the update I havent rebooted yet, not saying this is the reason why, but so far i sure am hoping it is

I noticed that after the update my phone no longer deletes emails. I have it leave them on the server. Then I let my desktop delete them. After they were deleted by my desktop when the phone checked the email it would delete the ones that were gone. Anybody else with this problem?

I've seen at least one other report of that, so it's not you.

I didn't get to track that issue, but I can offer that unlike other updates, this one seems to have clearly changed a number of settings from the previous user choices.

Probably a dead-end, but maybe check for any new/changed config options in your mail client(s).

Yep, same here. Very annoying to have to delete these multiple times.

Since the update my EVO will not see the sd card. I just keep getting a screen saying to insert an sd card, or sd card was unexpectedly removerd. I cannot see it with my computer when plugged in with USB cable either. Is anyone else having this problem?

Of all the add ons from this update, I still see no difference in which my 4G widget works. I do not have a scan now widget for 4G and when I enabled 4G on my home screen before the update, it showed in my tray already so I coulds see if I was connected, so I don't see anything different with 4G. To be calling it a widget is misleading since there isn't one.

Maybe they meant to say they added scan now to the existing widget?

Jumping into this thread late.. My apologies.
I got the update 2 weeks ago and after updating almost 1/2 of my contacts were deleted. Has anyone else had this problem?

If you've logged into your Gmail account (from a computer) and find that all your contacts are gone, I know of no way to restore them.

I was hoping that your Gmail account would show all your contacts and that your phone wasn't syncing. Instead, it looks like something deleted the contacts from your phone and then it synced, removing all your contacts from your account.

Looks like things are FUBAR.

Try this... go to your gMail account, to Contacts, to More Actions... to Restore Contacts and try restoring to an earlier date (probably to a date before you did the update).

Just tried that. Fingers crossed. Will report back and let everyone know how it goes.
