Help Major annoyance with texting input display

Overall I really like the new S2 I just got through T-Mobile so this is really just me nitpicking. Being unsatisfied with T-Mobile's mobile and data network is another story which I will not get into. Anyway, when I use the standard messaging on the S2 and I start swyping in the text box the word suggestion ribbon shows up at the bottom and suggests words as I'm typing(which is fine). What's not fine is that the ribbon is constantly appearing and then disappearing depending on the speed I am texting. Because of that my text box is CONSTANTLY readjusting itself up and down (up when the ribbon is there and back down when the ribbon disappears). This is really annoying when you are trying to keep an eye on what you have typed into your text box and the box keeps moving all over the freaking place. I have a friend with a Galaxy S2 through AT&T and I had him show me how his texting works. His suggestion ribbon at the bottom constantly stays there the entire time he is texting which is exactly what I want mine to do. I don't know if I am missing something in the settings or what. This a detail I can't really ignore anymore since it is constantly annoying the crap out of my every time I text or even input text into anything for that matter because the ribbon will not stay in place for any text input at all. Please help!

I have also tried alternate SMS apps but have not found one that I am happy with and I also keep having the issue of my phone notifying me twice that I have a text (one for the standard messaging and the other for the alternate SMS app)
