Root Major Issues with CM9 !HELP!

So CM9 has completely screwed up my phone and I'm hoping someone can help me out. Since flashing it I now can't get data while back on v6 stock. I tried wiping everything and restoring v6 and once on v6 it shows a triangle in the status bar next to the signal icon rather than a 3g or 4g icon. A keep getting a pop up that tells me to call a number for to subscribe to global service. When I go into setting it shows that 3g data is there, so it's reading it, but the phone is not letting me use it.

I since reflashed cm9 and it's gone completely nuts on me. superuser pops up 50 times when i do anything in rom toolbox pro. I tried to restore my contacts and none of my contacts showed up. None of my text messages and calls logs restored either.

I'm about to go back to v6 again because cm9 is just flipping out on me. I'm now getting tons of "unfortunately such and such has stopped working"

If someone knows how I can get data working properly while back on v6 I would appreciate it. Thanks

i would try flashing the .tot file or the .cab file like the old school restoration mode.... possibly with changing the radio it ****** something up .... but im not sure if a restore or regular flash would put it back the way it was prior to flashing cm9.... i would think you would have to go back to .tot or .cab just because its the purest form of recovery we have....

hope this helps....

the one from plays thread. But all is good now. I'm not flashing cm9 again until a FULLY functioning one is ready. :p

And even after one is released I'm going to let everyone else test it first and see what bugs it has.

radio wasnt touch ;)

I just restored back to BP after using CM9. Just went back to CWM (6.01), wiped everything and installed the zip file from my SD card. Everything is back as usual. I am, by no means expert, posting for the benefit of others like me that it is safe.

safe in most cases. I did just as you did and still had my issue. Even playfulgod was stomped as to what might of happened. Thankfully it's working now but only after three tries. Well it was probably the prayer that fixed it :D

Carmen, i would suggest flashing the newer 6.0.1.1 cwm is you are still runing 6.0.1.0. You may have had an issue there is you were restoring a nandroid in the dedupe format. With the newer 6.0.1.1 you can revert back to the tar format for the back ups. I had an issue last night with the 6.0.1.0 not wanting to restore a dedupe format back up.

The same thing happened to me; the radio setting was NOT set to SIM in CM9, so it essentially nuked the radio. I flashed BP and stock, but neither let you change the radio.

Here's how I fixed it: I restored cm9, changed the radio (under phone>network) to SIM and when I restored BP, the radio worked again.

Anyone flashing CM9 needs to know that they *MUST* make sure the radio is set to 'sim', otherwise their sim card won't register. Not sure if this is something the devs can iron out in later builds.

... nandroid?

nandroid is the term used for backups made from recovery. It's kind of a legacy term, as the old methods for creating and restoring backups in the early days have been changed substantially. Sometimes for the worse -- avoid the dedupe backup method at all cost, it fails restore for some folks. Always make sure you have recovery version 6.0.1.1 (or higher, if any new ones get made) and change the settings to use the tar method.

thats odd, i did not mess with radio or netwroks setting in cm9, and had no issues when i came back to BP. I restored a back up after playing with cm9, so that may have made the difference.

Yea that is weird.... But then, there's nothing normal about this phone. :)

It freaked me out, because I thought my Sim was fried... I was glad to find out it was just the radio and not my card.

Sounds like everything is taken care of but for others I was able to flash right back to Broken out 3.0 with no issues. I did make sure my radio was set to SIM first, cleared dalvik, data, cache (the norm) and had no issues connecting back to 4G. I know your issue is taken care of but just in case anyone else checks this out it did work for me.

I can confirm as well. I have gone from CM9 to BO3 several times now without any issues apart from the issues that haven't been resolved yet within CM9 itself.

you always have to flash three times :)

j/k glad its working again

Thank goodness for this thread. I just had the dreaded triangle issue show up. It most definitely is an issue with CM9 turning it to read from the NV instead of the SIM. Why most people aren't affected, I don't know, but it is fixable as long as you go back into CM9 and change it back.

Yea I don't know why I thought to try that, but I figured if cm9 was the only rom that let me change the som, why not go back to it and see if it would let me set it back. I'm glad it did... I thought my Sim was fried.
