Help Major multitouch issues

My phone simply does not do multitouch right. I got my Inc for Christmas and it has a serious bug that is not present in my mom's original preorder model. No matter what I'm doing, it will periodically act like I am touching the screen with two fingers. If I actually drag two fingers around it will sometimes recover but usually I have to turn the screen on and off. I cannot use the cool new google maps tilt feature AT ALL. If I drag two fingers on maps it spins and zooms but will never, ever tilt. Works flawlessly on my mom's phone.

Seen some various posts on this, like 'my swype freezes' but there seems to be confusion among users of the good original phone. It sure seems like when they put in the lcd screen, they also started using some crappy defective touchscreen! I can barely navigate web pages because it gets stuck in zoom mode so often. I've read that refurbished phones have this problem too. Wish I'd been given a droid X because it seems like HTC really screwed up when they changed this phone... :(

(not a tech support request, I've tested two phones side by side and the difference is obvious and reproducible)

Why don't you go to a VZW store with both your moms phone and yours, show them the obvious and reproducible problem and get them to exchange it? Seems kind of clear cut to me.

And from what I understand, HTC had no choice in changing the screen. Samsung had issues supplying the quantity of screens that were necessary. I, personally, think they decided to keep the AMOLED screens for all their own phones, rather than have them on other mfg phones

There are two parts to the screen - the panel itself (AMOLED or SLCD), and the touch sensor (TouchMax). The sensor is identical in both screens. If your phone is having multi-touch issues, it's either software (clear cache, factory rest if desperate), or hardware (faulty sensor). The screen itself won't cause the issue.
