Help Make Dialer One Default?

When you say the phone pad on the screen... do you mean a shortcut, if so, just add a shortcut to dialer one.

I'm running launcher pro and I have a link to dialer one in my dock... I just long press on the icon in the doc and change it to open the application dialer one.

I am referring to the phone symbol at the bottom of each screen. Yes, I know I can put a shortcut to Dialer One, but then I would have to put a shortcut on each desktop or hit the Home key then the shortcut.

Ok, the shortcut in the dock then...

Let me try something... I use launcher pro (which has it's own configurable dock) so I don't have the same issue.

I switched back to the stock launcher and I see what you mean. The stock froyo launcher doesn't allow you to change what app gets launched when you press the dialer button.

I also checked out the dialer one help info... they mention that froyo has a limitation in that there is no way to override the default dialer.

I'm guessing there is a hack that can be done to override this (since some folks have figured out how to override the sprintid dock icon), but I don't know how that would be done.

So... switch to a different launcher, use a shortcut on the homescreen or see if you can find someone who will create a hack for the default dock so it will launch dialer one instead of the default dialer.

I see. I kind of figured that.

What I want most is for the default dialer to give me a list of contacts when I start keying in numbers for my selection. My old LG Lotus had this and Dialer One has this as well.

Yeah, that's why I use it as well. My old WM phones had T9 dialing as well and I really have a hard time doing without it.

HTC and Samsung have their own android dialers that do this but motorola and LG haven't added this yet. I really like android but there are a few things that really should be included in the stock OS.
