Installed it and went to the App Inventor website as per the instructions, but it only allows you to register interest at the moment.
I suppose I'll just have to wait until they give me access

You have to fill in a form to register first before you can use the software. I registered yesterday but havn't had an email from google yet. I've downloaded the software though so I'm ready

Yes I did, the software is basically an add-on for your browser which you won't be able to use until Google let you in.
