Making a custom ROM... sort of

Ok, about a week or so ago, I asked if I could take a ROM (in this case, aospCMod) and add apks and other pieces from different themes to make it my own. Mahalocat suggested using Root Explorer to do this. So I did.

I used RE to extract the necessary apks and such and add them to the latest from also in all the correct sub-folders. I then used RE to zip the new ROM. My question is... after everything I just mentioned, is it safe to flash? Did I miss anything? Some input would be greatly appreciated as I'm desperate to flash it and see if it worked. I just don't wanna create a paperweight. Thanks in advance.

If none of the stuff is for GSM then you should be fine. Just make a Nandroid first and then flash away. Best of luck to you with it.

I'm not a developer, but from what I have learned, you will be just fine. It's almost impossible to brick the Sprint Hero. Falshing a GSM ROM is the only way I know of. Happy flashing and best of luck! Oh, and don't forget the Nandroid! :D

Well, after flashing my custom ROM, a 30 minute boot loop. That's the longest my screens' ever ran the boot. So I nandroided back and it's loading as I type this. Oh well, guess I'll have to play around with it some more til I can get this right. Maybe I'll start learning how to theme.

Did you do a full wipe ?

Try Nandroiding back, and this time do not do a full wipe, simply wipe cache and davlik along with formatting cache, since you are installing the same Rom simply a modified version, see if that works

Yeah. Full wipe.
