Root making a SD card for gingerbread/NC

I wanted to make a SD card for gingerbread on nook color. Unfortunately the only way to get the computer to recognise the 16gb class 4 card is to have it in a phone. I have a Scandisk adapter and my computer has a slot to insert the SD slot on the PC but the PC will not recognise the card unless it is in a phone. what driver do I need to update toenable the computer to see the 16 gb class 4 memmory card?

This worked for me.

Download CM7, which needs a bootable CWM from SD to work. Also download the 3.0.1.0 CWM boot image for your particular size SD card.

To make the Bootable SD card, put it in your phone, and mount it as a hard drive on your PC, so it gets assigned a drive letter.

Use WinImage, or Win32Imager etc, to write the boot image to the drive of the phone mounted SD card. It should then format the card and write the boot image to it. If not, then maybe try a different phone if you have one handy.
