Root Making car-mode useful

Hi everyone,

I have the iGRIP dock which works great. Strangely, the Virgin Mobile HTC Evo V 4G 3D recognizes it's in the dock, yet doesn't launch into any special home screen. Am I missing something? Shouldn't some simplified launcher pop up? Help!

Before I asked for help here, I've tried a few things. Vlingo is useful to have and so is Ionroad. The HTC dock doesn't seem to allow the main camera to work through it's docking method. Also, on my home screen, I've added Car Widget.

It's ok, but not great. I thought the car mode changed the default launcher to another launcher, for the car. Do I have to install one? Which? Was this removed during some recent "upgrade"?

Currently, the Sense launcher doesn't allow a horizontal rotation in it's launcher. I've considered to use Go Launcher again because of this failure. Thoughts?

I listen to podcasts in the car. I'd have a simple car dock app, that auto launches when it's docked. I'd like to have pages to swipe through, 1 for navigation and calls, another media controls to pause or skip, something like that. How do you all make the EVO V work a little better?

I have the HTC dock and it would do the same ... recognized the dock but didn't launch anything...I installed the google car mode apk and now it launches when I dock the phone...had to download and install manually since market thinks phone isn't compatible

Where and what version did you use, sideloaded I assume?

Actually the launcher does allow horizontal viewing, strangely enough it's the dock app that does it. ;-) Obviously though it's more suitable for a home dock than automotive use.

I have never used the car home app, but I love the UltraCron app by the same developer. I have used it for two years, and have never seen another app work as well for all your timing needs.

Note at a free car home is available on Google Play/Market.

FYI it's only free for the first month, then you gotta buy the $2 license.

I'm only using the 30-day trial version right now. I might slap the $2 down to buy it since the ability to add shortcuts is really nice. I have a page set for Pandora w/media buttons and one for Doggcatcher w/media buttons.

I definitely like it more than the Google car dock app.
