making custom extended battery

so after a large amount of research and testing ive come to find that its fine to connect diffetent capacity lithium ions together.

with that being said im now trying to find the right size battery to use that will take full advantage of the free space inside the phone.

checking the samsung galaxy s2 battery its perfect in width from right to left and thickness it fits so snug its unbelievable.BUT its not long enough. its only about 60% of what the phone can fit lengthwise. and its 1850mAh i know theres a 2250 version of it.

SO i need to find a battery with about the same width and thickness but longer and i need any advice i can get from u guys. i think we can get around 5000mAh in there by using the 1900 since its actual 1900 and a nice 3000 big battery

PLEASE throw suggestions for devices that have large batteries like that so i may check them this would be very nice to see implemented and worth the work

That "large amount of testing and research" wouldn't happen to be the work that I did to CONFIRM that already would it?
Credit much?!?

oh sorry no its not related to that i been on this for almost a month. i want to look into what u talked about when i have fun. but its definitely not related. id give credit where its needed

So you're saying that my finding that batteries give out the same amount of mwah, and voltage with or without the governor on them that connects to the phone didn't help?
I find that all but too convenient.
At any case, yes, you can, I said you could the other night in my thread. It's just a matter of doing it in the right order so that you don't short the batteries. Remember, it's just like a car battery, connect positive first so that the current will jump through the battery, not you. The negative shares the ground on those, and it WILL fry your battery if given the chance.

dude no offense or anything im an electrical/chemical.engineering major. i been working on this taking precise measurements and experimenting and asking experts on this stuff. i was interested in ur thread because nobody else tried anything with battteries here.
its alot more complicated than just connecting them in parallel unfortunately due to variable internal resistance which would cause a majority of the current to go to the smaller battery causing a potential overheating issue so it needs regulation. what u found isnt a governor of mwah or voltage. thats inside the phone and its a voltage regulator. what u found was probably either a protective module to force the current to stop when the battery voltage reaches a threshhold or a current pattern regulator for longer life. im not too sure and would need to take a battery apart later to know for sure

by the way there isnt enough voltage in there to shock your tongue.

having a lithium battery get too hot in ur pocket or in the charger because u did something wrong is a big issue it will explode light on fire and burn through alot of stuff.these batteries are very hazardous

LOL, connecting any series of batteries together is going to present the danger of overheating just because there's not a heat dissipation between them. Your major's nice and all, but I was in college at 15 and out by eighteen with two degrees bro. I have done work on everything from nasa's static discharging floor panels to basic computer repairs, so you're not the only one here that knows what you're talking about.

im just saying there is no electric shock hazard and how to connect them in parallel should b the least of our worries and the absence of heat disippation between them is not significant to be a cause of overheating otherwise extended laptop batteries would have metal plates between the cells leading outside

with your experience you should know even a 14v car battery is not a shock hazard let alone a 3.7v battery

sorry i didnt mean to come off as agressive just didnt like the fact u took it that i used ur work and didnt give credit.

Wasn't "taking it that way" was just simply asking. As for the shock hazard, I wasn't saying that you should be worried about it shocking you, I was referring to the damage that even a millionth of a volt over what the phone can handle could potentially destroy it (depending on how the caps in it are holding up.)
I think that the heat issue would be a pretty simple fix in all honesty, but I DO know that the cases for the extended batteries are still not large enough to fit the regular 2500mah extended, and the stock together. We'd have to re-case, and mold them, and that's just WAY too much work for most people - neglecting the fact of the amount of difficulty it would be for some of them.

I've taken a look inside the galaxy 2 that I bought my wife, and even some of the other batteries I have around the house and haven't seen anything with a decent lifespan that would make me want to even attempt to shove it into the extended batteries housing unit.

The best solution so far would probably just be to buy a few of the cheap-o chinese batteries. Sure, they'll suck but they're like 9 bucks for a 3800, and even if it only comes out to a 2500 after thorough use it's still cheaper than one extended from metro with the same mwah.

well the note comes with a 2500 slim stock battery if we can fit that battery in there plus a 1900 slim in our phones we get 4400 mAh which is definitely worth it for me. there is no extra work involved besides soldering or taping the terminals onto both batteries. and it would be true 4400 mAh

Well, the extended batteries that you can get online for ten bucks would be a better option, as they'll have the housing around them already, and will make the process of it attaching to the phone post modification a LOT easier.
As for getting it to work, like you said, that's as simple as soldering the connections. The only difficult part is going to be finding a case that'll fit anything that we try to do along these lines without physically disassembling the battery housing, and remaking one with aluminum casing (plumbers aluminum tape could work VERY handily in this situation if we chose to go that route.

I'm going to be tinkering with it and cracking open the wife's Samsung galaxy tab 2.0 7" here within a week or so, and I'm sure I can get something working (but I don't think she'll be too happy about missing her tablet's battery :P )

ouch! i would have done that to my transformer prime but i think the batteries in there are too big.
i think we can fit almost any size battery though if we use the method i put a guide for making a case for an extended battery using the hybrid plastic and silicon case

Will jus the slim 2500mah note battery for the connect without having to mod the battery cover at all? Is it safe to use?

dang it. that would have been perfect. do u know of any slim batteries with a true or fairly tru rating close to 2500?
