Help Manually delete notifications from the notification tray??

Hi there.

Today I was downloading an email attachment when it failed. I downloaded it again and it worked, but the notification saying that it is downloading is still there. There is no little "X" there to remove the notifications like there usually is. I've tried switching the phone off and on a couple of times as well as a battery wipe.

Is there a way to manually wipe my notifications? Otherwise how do I get rid of this stuck notification? It's rather annoying.

Swipe the notification to one side.

Tapping on it doesn't dismiss it, though; it takes you to app generating the notification, and in some types of notifications that unfortunately doesn't even work (even though it should).

A simple dismissal of the notification requires a swipe.
