Root Manually Deodex a 2.3.340 without installing a ROM

I updated my X to 2.3.340 and would like to Theme but not ROM (at this time). I've been searching for a couple of hours and have been unsuccessful at finding instructions detailing how to accomplish this task.

I originally installed 928 with 2.3.15, but that's no longer an option.

You still need to be deodexed first, it says so in the install instructions.

There's a zip file listed there to de-odex. Thats what I was referring to. In the initial steps/instructions....I haven't verified it yet, but already have a clean backup in case....

It works great, so don't worry. His themes are very nice, too. I was using the gingerbread theme until I got bored with all of the green and switched to the Sense theme.

I'm new at this, so would I load the .zip file on my sdcard and then run bootstrap recovery and restore using that zip file?

Not Restore, use Install from zip file.

verified that the deodexer works fine.

am able to add themes to stock .340 at will now....
