Help Manually updating 2 KitKat using ODIN

I am trying to update to the KITKAT version using instructions from Android Geeks. I complete all the steps until I get to step 12 where it says
From Odin pick the update file. In order to do so, just click on

Thank you for the quick response. I am using the version 3.09 and I tried the AP and it failed. It says on the phone something about "unsupport dev_type"
Is this Verizon or am I missing something
Thanks

At a guess I would say you haven't unlocked the 'developer options" on your Note 3. Dead easy to do and a common mistake. Make sure your not connected to the PC via USB then from any home screen left soft key>Settings>general (top right)>about device>scroll down to "build number" and repeatedly tap (seven times I think, but just keep tapping) until a toast message says your a developer. Now go back (right soft key) and a new option "developer options" is present tap this for a new menu and make sure "USB debugging" is checked. Now try again with Odin.

I was unable to update even with the developer options and usb debugging checked. This still fails and says "unsupport dev_type"

I would certainly appreciate any help as I am with Verizon Wireless and they as you know are always filling updates with bloat ware and are always last to send them out.
