Help maps and locations updates

my desire hd is on o2 network and everytime i use the maps or locations it asks me to update them, when i do it takes for ever to update even when using a wi fi conection from my internet at home, why is this, and when they have updated the next couple of times i use them they are ok, then it will ask for a update again,

I have a similar problem with apps that are set to auto update. They sit there supposedly downloading but never seem to make any progress. I long press on them and tap 'Cancel Download' and then update them manually which seems to do the trick. Not sure if this is the same problem you're having, mind..

I have to do the exact same thing, apps that are supposed to update have to be cancelled and done manually.

You may find this helpful http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-support-troubleshooting/449627-app-updates-not-downloading.html although I have very recently identified the issue is with my home wifi/IP not the phone itself.

As for the map updates... it can go through a phase of updating really frequently for a few weeks and then nothing for ages.
