maps/battery life question

This morning while in one of my people contacts I accidently clicked on their address and it used the gps to locate it (which I was not trying to do). Now when looking at my batter use it says maps is at 85% even though it was on for 8 seconds. I went to the maps application and the force close is shaded. How do I turn the function off so it isn't sucking so much battery life? Or is it already off? Really confused. Thanks for any help.

No help here but I have the same thing. I usually end up having to reboot. It doesn't happen all the time for me though. Only once in awhile.

That screen is inaccurate. In my experience, if you run Maps or Camera, that window will show exorbitant usage even after they're closed. They're not really draining your battery.

Hopefully a maintenance release will fix that window so the readings are accurate.

The application "Spare Parts" has an accurate battery usage meter area.

Well, it happened in the morning...right?

This is just a guess, but if your battery is still almost 100% full, and you used GPS for a few seconds, then GPS using 85% of what has drained from yor batterty so far really isn't much.

Because as I understand, that is telling you how much that program has used your battery since you unplugged your phone.

I think I'm getting this as well on my Wildfire. It doesn't seem to last shorter in time, even though it lists 90%+ battery use for Maps

You should Root you phone!

Root fixes Everything, even things that are't broken.

Rooting will also make your battery life "Double" so things like battery use won't matter anymore
