Help Maps is driving me NUTS!!!!!

This shows the maps program ran for less than a minute but took up 32% of my battery...

My phone had been on for over 9 HOURS and yet less than a minute of maps took up 32% of the battery usage???

I think there is something seriously wrong with the battery reporting...
 
I wonder if you have a rogue program that is keeping maps alive. I've used gps navigation and maps extensively and never had a percentage that high on 9 hours of use. But then again I've only run maps at most an hour and a half. Strange. If that was me I'd do a factory reset and see if it continues. If it does I'd take it back. Most my problems when I do have problems have been related to some third party app.
 
I had a similar problem after using Navigation while on battery for about 20 minutes. The percentage of battery use by Google Maps kept increasing afterward, even though it was not running (according to the built in task manager and System Panel). IIRC (this was about 2 weeks ago), battery life was pretty poor afterward too, until I power cycled my Bionic.
 
I cleared the cache and uninstalled all updates/reinstalled all updates.

So far it seems to not be having problems... I will keep watching and search through my 3rd party apps for something that may use the maps/navigation feature.

If it is a third party application, even if I did a factory reset I would end up reinstalling the stupid application most likely...

I want to avoid that at all costs, although if it keeps happening I will.
 
I factory reset the phone since the MINUTE I turned on the GPS (doing NOTHING else), some stupid motorola app started using it and wouldn't stop, and wasn't even showing as running in Task Manager...

So, I said screw it and did the factory reset.

I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow when I use it at work.
 
Hmm. I used my navigation for about seven hours before I needed to put the phone on the charger. It had also been off the charger for about seven hours before I left. Def something up there.

It hasn't done it since I did a factory reset...

I will see what happens as the week continues.

Yup. I too had to do a factory reset because of this. I made the mistake of turning on "Social Location/Social Networking" or something like that. But when I tried to turn it off or remove it from "Accounts" (because it was draining the battery), it won't let me. It said that I was entering the wrong password eventhough I wasn't.
