Help maps taking to much battery even after force close

Bigbj

Newbie
So maps has been taking up at least 30% of my battery even after I force close it stays open taking up a lot of battery. I've only seen one other thread with this issue and the problem wasn't fixed completely. Before the zva update I used to be able to force close then restart my phone and if would finally close it and stop taking up so much battery. Since the update I cannot get it to close. I have quarentined (frozen) maps, restarted, forced close and tried every combination of those things and it still takes up 30% of my battery when I don't even have the app open. I only got about 6 hours of battery life today and I had about 10 before this happened. Any help?

But when u freeze it then u cant run like five other apps. Do u freeze and then unfreeze and it works?

unfortunately i have to unfreeze it everytime i use it and freeze it again. sometimes clearing data helps.

Alright well I got it to stop using battery. I cleared cache and that didn't do anything so I cleared data and that didn't do anything so the only button left was uninstall updates so I did that and it was dropped from battery use immediately. I then went and re-updated maps. I have gone back and used maps and navigation and it hasn't popped back up into battery use. Only time will tell but so far that has worked.

how did u uninstall updates

Try using Gemini app mngr or ROM Toolbox lite from the GPlay store and set the autoruns for maps to off. Works on my LG :)

Its part if android settings->applications->manage applications->maps. And then at the top there is a button next to force close that says uninstall updates.

And maps has come back is taking battery but only about 3-6% now. Much better than the 30 it was taking. I'm at 48% battery after about 3.5 hrs with low to no signal so battery life seems to be better now.
