Mark as answer

I know that it is easy to make a thread seem like the original question has been answered by editing the title of the thread and adding a moniker such as [solved]. Over at sevenforums they took the idea used here for marking thread types (support, etc.) and used that to be able to quickly mark a thread solved.

What I'd like to see, however, is something along the lines of getSatisfactions' Mark as answer, so that the OP and / or a Greenie Beanie or Red Head could not only mark a support thread as answered but also be able to quickly mark the actual post(s) in the thread as the answer.

Could something like this be implemented here?

I'm not talking about FAQs and such, I'm talking about individual threads that users create in order to solve a problem - such as a user posting in, say, a device forum on how to rearrange the icon layout in the dock of a particular UI used by that manufacturer, etc.

Identifying the actual post that is the accepted answer is often very difficult in long threads. Being able to make it more obvious would be very helpful.

Good call. Where's the "like" button? ;)

That was asked for in another thread in here, and I actually saw the merit in not having a like button....

It's taken me 2 days to get round to googling what GMTA stands for. So from my perspective, perhaps no so much of the GM ;)

I think thats an excellent feature :D . Sometime times (esp. in 100+ ) it is just difficult to navigate for answer .
Obviously the most thanked post is usually an indicator of the answer but sometimes people forget to thank and usually the post is obscured .
Which also brings up to the point if users are not going to thank a post ,then will they mark a post as an answer ?
It will just mean more work for mods and guides :D .

Catch 22 ?

Mods can mark the answer for the user if the user does not. Yes, it is a bit more work in the short run, but in the long run, it will help save both us and the regular members some time as they find what they are looking for and ht answer to their specific question.

Sure, we get a lot of "I'm having the same issue" posts only to find out it is not the same issue - Still not sure exactly how to deal with those, I usually suggest that they start a new thread b/c the issue is not the same *shrug*
